C\u2019est \u00e0 Ren\u00e9 VERARD journaliste et \u00e9crivain sp\u00e9cialiste de Jean Jaur\u00e8s que l\u2019on doit l\u2019arriv\u00e9e des proverbes dans la commune. C\u2019est en 1960 qu\u2019il propose l\u2019id\u00e9e \u00e0 son fr\u00e8re Henri, alors conseiller municipal de la commune. Le 10 septembre de cette m\u00eame ann\u00e9e, la d\u00e9cision est adopt\u00e9e lors du Conseil municipal et fait de Croisy sur Andelle le \u00ab Village des Proverbes \u00bb. Le but de cette d\u00e9marche \u00e9tait\u00a0 d\u2019int\u00e9resser les touristes \u00e0 la visite de Croisy sur Andelle et d\u2019intensifier le commerce local. A cette occasion, une vingtaine de panonceaux supportant des proverbes en rapport avec le site ou le lieu avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 pos\u00e9s \u00e0 divers endroits de la commune.
